Nancy Metzger, 65

Nancy E. Metzger, age 65, of Coldwater,, and a former Sturgis resident, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Life Path Hospice House in Ruskin, Fla.

Nancy was a graduate of North High School in Worcester, Mass., with the class of 1964. She continued her education at the Ollis Beauty Academy in Worcester graduating in 1965.

On Dec. 10, 1966, she married Jerry Calvin Metzger of Sturgis in the Davis Chapel of the First Baptist Church in Worcester.

Nancy had made her home in Sturgis until 1972 when she moved to Fayette, Ohio for several years. She and Jerry moved to Commerce, Texas, in 1980 and settled in Garland, Texas, returning to Sturgis in 1986.

Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.

While her children were in school, she was always very involved in their many school functions and activities. Some of those activities included Nancy serving as a parent aid, block mother, Cub Scout Leader and a soccer coach as well as an adult literary tutor for many years before retiring to become a full-time RV’er.

Nancy enjoyed traveling and exploring our country, hiking national forests and had gained many lasting friendships with people from all over the United States and Canada who shared her love of wildlife observation in natural settings.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jerry; one son, Jerry Craig (Rachel) Metzger of Sturgis; one daughter, Lisa (Marcus) Pasquinelli of Warren; three step-grandchildren, Olivia Pasquinelli, Kelsy Remsing and Xavier Remsing; one brother, Charles Armand Dupras of Fiskdale, Mass.; one sister, Anne Marie (Richard) Morse of Old Town, Mass.; and many aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews in the New England area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Armand J. and Alice Marie Dupras; twin sons, John Charles and Jeffery Carl Metzger; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Emilia (Tremblay) Dupras; maternal grandparents, Arthur A. and Edna F. Sherblom; one brother, Edward Dupras; and two sisters, Marguerite A. Poole and Elizabeth Ann Curry.

Graveside services and burial of the ashes will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bronson. Pastor Dale Walterhouse of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Church will officiate.

Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to the LifePath Hospice, 12973 Telecom Parkway, Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
