Richard L. Rumps, 47, of Sturgis, died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at his home.
He was born July 2, 1964 in Detroit, a son of Richard L. and Fran (Rainwater) Rumps Sr.
Richard had been employed by Jayco Inc. in Middlebury, Ind.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, fireworks and being at the lake. He also enjoyed singing and listening to music and playing around on his computer.
Richard is survived by his mom, Fran (Alan) Rainwater Mowat of Loveland, Colo.; his stepmom, Sally Rumps of Arlington Heights, Ill.;, three sisters, Carolyn (Ron) Mowat Harlan of Loveland, Colo., Sandy (John) Ryan of Rock, W.Va., and Carrie (Dan) DeZutter of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; four brothers, Mike Cavanaugh of Arlington Heights, Ill., Tom (Kerri) Cavanaugh of Streamwood, Ill., Alan (Michelle) Mowat Jr. of Loveland, Colo., and Daniel (Michele Repp) Cavanaugh of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the visitation.
