Walter Lefson Headley, 73, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully early Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at Three Rivers Health. He was born on Aug. 7, 1938 in Vicksburg, the son of Robert and Martha (Huntington) Headley.
Walt was employed by Dock Foundry for many years. He was an avid Boy Scout Assistant Leader for many local troops, and truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and working outdoors.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, sister Norma (Richard) Williams, and brother Ronald Headley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Barbara (Boodt) Headley, whom he married on May 30, 1958 in Scotts; three children, Lawrence (Jane) Headley of Marcellus, Kathleen (Michael) Kline of White Pigeon and Scott (Kayla) Headley of Three Rivers; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Hertsel, Michelle Headley, Jacob Gaylor and Noah (Nicole) Gaylor as well as two step-grandchildren, Dayton (Cara) Kline and Ashley Caruthers; nine great-grandchildren, Tatum, Evan, Lukas and Bralynn Gaylor, Michael Gaylor, Savannah Headley and Abigail Hertsel, Zoe Jane and Dayton Michael Kline.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. prior to a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Kyle Foster officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
