Charles McNary Sr., 74

Charles A. McNary Sr., age 74, of Three Rivers, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Bronson Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. He was born October 27, 1936 to the late Charles Alonzo and Amanda Harding McNary of Cassopolis, Michigan. Charles McNary aka “Charlie” accepted Christ at an early age and truly had a huge heart. Charlie was often the “go to man” in times of need and he was always willing to do what he could to help others. Charlie was a graduate of Cassopolis High School.

Charlie was a hard worker whom was employed by Continental Can, General Motors, and American Axle where he eventually retired. Charlie was a prominent athlete in his younger years. He excelled at baseball, bowling, hunting, and enjoyed gardening. However, his true passion was playing golf.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Mary McNary, three sons, Charles Jr., Mark, Timothy, one daughter, Kathy McNary, a stepson, Samuel Brown III (Gervine Brown), and three brothers, Wallace, Robert, and Ervin Ware, one uncle, Henry(Maxine) McNary, sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Anderson and one grandson, Anthony Marquis.

Charlie touched many lives and created many wonderful memories over his lifetime. He will truly be missed by us all, but never forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers, MI. 49093.

Funeral Services for Charlie McNary will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Elbert Foster officiating.

Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, MI.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
