Maggie L. Wiard, age 82, of Burr Oak, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Three Rivers Health.
She was born July 15, 1929 in Bethel Township, a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Fanny (Lewis) Deeds.
Maggie had been a resident of Burr Oak since 1957, previously residing in the Coldwater area. She was married to Kenneth Wiard, who preceded her in death in 1978.
She retired from Lear-Sigler in Mendon in 1991 after 21 years of employment as a painter/silk screener. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with family, and loved living in Burr Oak.
Surviving are two sons, Carl (Connie) Deeds of Sturgis and Kenneth Wiard Jr. and Susan Nelson both of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Hunt of Burr Oak; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Raymond and Carl Deeds; two sisters, Sylvia Bell and Annie Marie Pugh; and an infant grandson.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Rosenberg Chapel, Sturgis.
Interment will immediately follow visitation at 4 p.m. Saturday at Burr Oak Cemetery.
