Nina Wellman, 69

Nina B. Wellman, 69, of Three Rivers, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo following a long illness. She was born in Muskegon on Jan. 8, 1942 the daughter of the late Alfred and Pauline (Berghuis) Wieber. She graduated from Muskegon High School, and later from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She taught school in Coopersville, Blissfield, and Three Rivers where she has resided the past 37 years. She had also been employed as a teller at First National Bank for 15 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers. Nina enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Nina was married to Keith Wellman on April 3, 1964 in Muskegon. He survives along with two children and their spouses, Julia (Dominic) Diamond of Fenton and Matthew (Michelle) Wellman of Three Rivers; four grandchildren, Victoria and Anthony Diamond and Rachel and Phillip Wellman; one sister, Muriel (Jack) VanderWier of Indianapolis; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers with Rev. Timothy Raakman, Pastor of the Three Rivers Christian Reformed Church, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
