Twilla A. Wright, 94, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at Tendercare Nursing Home of Kalamazoo. Twilla was born June 7, 1917 in Porter Township, Lawton, the daughter of the late Clarence and Gladys (Hackenberg) Oxley.
Twilla was united in marriage to Raymond Wright on Aug. 15, 1938 in Warsaw, Ind. They resided in Marcellus for 26 years where she was active in the Marcellus Cub Scouts. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Twilla and her husband moved to Three Rivers area in 1964.
Twilla was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers, the Friendship Circle, Ladies Auxillary of the U.F.W. #5855 of Portage, and the Grandmothers Circle.
Twilla was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glenn and Raymond Oxley; sisters, Iva Guiter and Florence Cook.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband of 73 years, Raymond “Sonny” Wright of Kalamazoo; daughters, Gleola Sies of Parchment and Beverly (Lee) Sherburn of Madison Heights; sons, Wayne (Darlene) Wright of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Albert Wright of Hopkins; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Per her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers with Revs. Jon and Brenda Deily officiating.
Private interment will be held at a later date.
