Arthur J. Tobey, 76, of Burr Oak, and formerly of Tekonsha, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Battle Creek to Harry and Clelah (Simons) Tobey. On April 10, 1982, he married Marcia Michielsen in Tekonsha. She survives.
Arthur grew up in the Marshall and Tekonsha area. He was a forklift operator at Union Steel in Albion.
He is survived by his wife; Marcia; three sons, Joseph Tobey of Springport, Conway (Tracie) Tobey of Jackson and Randy (Regina) Price of Burr Oak; a daughter, Tonya (Dale) Deter of Burr Oak; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Carol Horn of Union City, Bonnie Seigel of Union City and Jan Language of Tekonsha.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lloyd Tobey; and a daughter, Paula Connley.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Union Church United Church of Christ in Tekonsha, with the Rev. Barbara Pryor officiating.
