Bob Faist, 91

Robert James “Bob” Faist, 91, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully Oct. 7, 2011 at Heartland Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Calumet City, Ill., the son of George and Florence Opal (Everson) Faist.

Robert graduated from Thornton Fractional High School, Calumet City, Ill., later he took several correspondence courses. In 1941 Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country honorably in World War II. Before his discharge in 1945, Robert was united in marriage to Margaret J. (Evans) Faist at Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Hammond, Ind.

Robert was employed at Swift & Co. from 1945 until 1965. In 1965 Bob joined the First State Bank of Mendon and later retired from Wells Index in 1982.

Mr. Faist was a life member of the Three Rivers Masonic Lodge, a past Commander of the American Legion Post #16 of Hammond, Ind.; District Governor and council of governors chairman of the Lions International. He also belonged to the Woodmar United Methodist Church, in Hammond, Ind. before moving to Three Rivers where he joined the First United Methodist Church and served as a trustee and Past Administrative board chairman.

Mr. Faist was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Faist.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 66 years, Margaret Jane Faist of Three Rivers; one daughter, Nancy (Richard) Boyd; one son, James R. (Mary) Faist, both of Three Rivers; four grandchildren, Katherine A. (Brian) Lutz, Daniel (Rachelle) Roberts, Kevin (Ruth) Roberts and Keith (Brandi) Roberts; 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Michaela Lutz, Matthew, Emily, Nicholas, Caitlyn, Chelsea, Hannah, Kylie and Taylor Roberts; one nephew, John Faist.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Maria Rutland officiating.

Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170.

Memorials may be donated to the Three Rivers Lions Club/Leader Dog School for the Blind. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
