Dennis Huyck, 68

Dennis G. Huyck, age 68, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at Rose Arbor of Kalamazoo, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1943 in Kalamazoo, MI., the son of Marlin W. and Genevieve (Cole) Huyck.

Mr. Huyck graduated from Marcellus High School with the class of 1961. On June 24, 1961 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rheta (Brundige) Huyck in Three Rivers. He was employed by the Johnson Corporation, first in research and development, and later moved to sales where he eventually retired as regional sales manager in 1998.

Dennis was a Life Member and Past Master of the Three Rivers Mt. Hermon #24 F.&A.M. where he was a 32 degree Mason. He was also a former officer and Life Member of the Three Rivers Shriners Club. He belonged to the B.P.O.E. #1248 of Three Rivers, the Three Rivers Eagles, and the Sons of the American Legion.

Dennis enjoyed hunting, golfing, walking and biking, but his true love was his family, especially his children and grandchildren and his very special dogs. He also loved to dance, where he first met his wife Rheta, at the Sock Hop at Maple Park in Three Rivers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Charlene Keene, and one niece, Penny Hansen.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife, Rheta Huyck, of Three Rivers; two sons, Randy (Jennifer) Huyck, of Three Rivers and Troy (Sandy) Huyck, of Marcellus; six grandchildren, Travis (Christina) Smith, of Port St. Lucie, FL., Alison Jo Huyck, of Granger, IN., Danielle Lee (Matt) Hinman, of Three Rivers, Chase M. (Ashley Schultz) Huyck, of Mendon, Cody J. (Jennifer Penning) Huyck, of Three Rivers, and Beau T. (Brittni Gottschalk) Huyck, of Three Rivers. One brother-in-law, Doug Brundige; one niece, Kim (Tom) Dalman; three nephews, Larry (Connie) Keene, Timothy and Gary Brundige, and several cousins.

Per Dennis’ request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.

Interment will be held in Moorepark Cemetery, Three Rivers.

Memorials may be donated to the American Cancer Society, Rose Arbor Hospice Facility, or A.R.F. of St. Joseph County.
