LaMoine Belle Metty, 92, of South Padre Island, Texas, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She was born near East Gilead, Mich. on Dec. 25, 1918 the daughter of the late Earl and Nellie (Stout) Preston. She attended Centreville schools and was married to Dr. Aloys C. Metty on April 21, 1939. They resided in Ann Arbor for many years before retiring to South Texas.
LaMoine is survived by 12 children, Beth Metty of Munith, Elaine Metty of Jackson, Ron Metty of Bloomingdale, Ill., Tom Metty of Hamburg, Mich., Aloys Metty, Jr. of Pinckney, Steve Metty and Theresa Metty both of South Padre Island, Texas, Patricia Scott of Kalamazoo, Peter Metty of Ulster Park, N.Y., John Metty of Parker, Colo., Jane Metty of McDonough, Ga. and Phillip Metty of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Glema Hochstetler of Nottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Kenneth Preston; and a son, Robert.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at Saint Edward Catholic Church in Mendon with Rev. Father Jim Vinh Le officiating. Burial will be in Saint Edward Catholic Cemetery.
