Rosie Milliman, 84

Rosella (Rosie) Milliman, age 84, of Burr Oak, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Rosie was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Warsaw, Ind., a daughter of the late Harvey and Mable Veon.

On March 22, 1952, she married David L. Milliman in Warsaw.

She had worked at the John Deere dealership in Centreville, Mayor and Cary Gladiola Farms in Burr Oak, Doerr Products in Burr Oak, M&M Grill in Colon, Colon laundromat, and for 20 years at Colon Elementary School as a custodian.

She was a member of the Burr Oak Grange, was a 4-H leader for more than 30 years and also had been a Girl Scouts leader.

Rosie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, camping, gardening and especially fishing.

She is survived by four daughters, Teresa A. Gest of Burr Oak, Ireena (Scott) Keeslar of Howe, Ind., Lana Parrish of Burr Oak and Barbara (Dennis) Slaby of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Karin Milliman of Burr Oak; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Janie Cunningham of Centreville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; a son, Frank Milliman; a brother, Donald Frost; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Milliman.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Rosie Milliman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at South Colon Cemetery in Colon.

If desired, memorials may be made in memory of Rosie to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
