Gary Allen Marks, age 60, of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Nov. 27, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1951 in LaGrange, Ind., a son of the late Charles Mobley and Lela Marks.
Gary had resided in Sturgis for the past two years, coming from Ocala, Fla. Before moving to Florida, he had lived in White Pigeon for many years. His early life was spent in LaGrange.
On Jan. 20, 1973, he married Gayle Lunger in White Pigeon.
Gary was a truck driver by trade, a profession he enjoyed most of his working life.
He also enjoyed fishing, drawing and NASCAR, especially following the career of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Gary loved time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived his loving wife of 38 years, Gayle; a daughter, Michelle (Robert) Stump of Sturgis; a son, Ken (Nycole Amaya) Marks of Sturgis; a sister, Deb (Mark) Paulus of LaGrange; two brothers, Charles (Carol) Mobley Jr. of Ocala and Chad Mobley of Elkhart, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mobley; his mother and stepfather, Lela and Delbert Haag; and a grandson, Christian Michael Stump.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Gary Marks will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Gary Cox will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. Private burial of the ashes will take place at White Pigeon Township Cemetery at a later date.
