Gladys Motter, 88

Gladys L. Motter, age 88, of 700 N.Douglas Ave., Three Rivers, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 5, 2011, at Three Rivers Health, following a short illness.

Gladys was born March 10, 1923, in Schoolcraft, a daughter of Charles and Nellie Oswalt. On May 9, 1941, she married Ira D. “Ike” Motter, in Schoolcraft. He preceded her in death July 22, 1987.

She had been a resident of Three Rivers since 2005, coming from Marcellus. She was a member of Corey Church of the Nazarene. She formerly was employed at Continental Can Company in Three Rivers. She also had done housecleaning and grape-picking.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Hamilton of Centreville and Karen (Norman) Carlson of Lawton; four sons, Robert (Bonnie) Motter of Elkhart, Ind., Roger (Donna) Motter of Marcellus, Thomas (Kathy) Motter of Paw Paw and Mark Daniel (Barbara) Motter of Marcellus; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Motter of Marcellus; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A son, Gerald E. Motter, preceded her in death May 19, 2010. Also preceding her in death were a granddaughter, Theresa Colter; two sisters; and five brothers.

The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mater Funeral Home in Marcellus.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Corey Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Gary L. Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Marcellus Cemetery.
