Rosa J. Saunders, 81, a lifelong resident of White Pigeon, Mich., passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011.
She was born in Niles, Mich., on March 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Earl and Myrtle (Tomlinson) Mummey. Rosa and Charles D. Saunders were married on Dec. 12, 1955.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Rosa’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and trips to the casino for fun.
In addition to her beloved husband, Rosa is survived by her daughters Janet (Jerry) Enders, Pottsville, Pa., and Tami (Gregg) Salisbury, and her sons Timothy (Marianne) Saunders, and Danny (Perri) Saunders, all of White Pigeon; and her grandchildren Nicholas Murray, Kevin Salisbury, Kendra Salisbury, Scott Saunders, Nathaniel Saunders, Joseph Saunders, Matthew Saunders, Katherine Saunders, and Jacob Saunders; five step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Rosa is also survived by a sister, Margaret (John) Schwartz, and a sister-in-law, Adele Gray, both of White Pigeon, and several nieces and nephews.
Rosa was preceded in death by her special aunt Cecil Thaning; brothers William and Carl Mummey; sister Marietta Booth; and step-son Charles W. Saunders.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Farrand Funeral Home, White Pigeon. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the service. In accordance with her wishes, Rosa will be cremated, with a private interment at a later date.
