Roberta A. “Bonnie” Miller, age 85, of Burr Oak, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born July 28, 1926, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late John and Blendena (Cummings) Gest.
Bobbie was a lifelong Burr Oak-area resident and a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1946.
On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Robert Miller in Howe, Ind.
Bobbie had been employed by Continental Can Company and Harvey Paper Company, both in Sturgis, and she was a homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening, her animals, playing cards with her siblings, square dancing and feeding her birds.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert; a daughter, Colleen (Brian Miller) Holst of Burr Oak; four sisters, Jackie Bower of Burr Oak, Jocelyn Baldwin of Traverse City, Sally (Steve) Coker of Sturgis and Shirley (Harold) Arensdorf of Tryon, Neb.; a brother, Lynn (Gloria) Gest of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Coker and Doniue Gest; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Bower and Bruce “Bud” Baldwin.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Roberta “Bobbie” Miller will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Bender will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
