Libby E. Atherton, age 96, of Clinton, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation was held on Wednesday, prior to the services. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Clinton.
Libby was born in Milaca, Minn., on Dec. 2, 1915, the daughter of Vaclav and Mary (Hrdina) Papacek. She graduated from Milaca High School. She and her husband Delbert owned and operated a gas station and convenience store in White Pigeon. She was a member of the Christian Center in South Bend, Ind. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling.
Libby is survived by two children Farryl (Alison) Atherton of Clinton and Esty (Rob) Pape of Tucson; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
