Marilyn Deisler, 77

Marilyn J. Deisler, 77, of White Pigeon, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers, following a short illness.

She was March 9, 1934, in Mottville, a daughter of Winford S. and Mary A. (Harris) Rentfrow. She was a 1952 graduate of White Pigeon High School, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing from University of Michigan.

She had been a White Pigeon resident all her life, except for time spent at college in Ann Arbor.

On Sept. 15, 1956, she married John L. Deisler in White Pigeon.

She was employed as a registered nurse for 40 years at Three Rivers Hospital, Fairview Medical Care in Centreville and Riverview Manor in Three Rivers. She was a clinical instructor at Glen Oaks Community College in the gerontolical nursing program, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary #138 of White Pigeon, Health Advisory Committee of Glen Oaks Community College; Friends of the Library, Alba Columba Club and Modernettes, all of White Pigeon; various nursing organizations; White Pigeon Bowling Association; and WIBC.

She enjoyed gardening, plants, violets, housekeeping, cooking and baking special birthday cakes.

Surviving are her husband, John L. Deisler of White Pigeon; a daughter, Debra (James) Flood of Sturgis; sons Richard (Tammy) Deisler of Middlebury, Ind., and John C. (Barbara) Deisler of Otsego; eight grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Donald) Cast of White Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Rentfrow.

Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wilbur Brandli officiating.

Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to White Pigeon Auxiliary #138, Alba Columba Club or the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
