Ruth Alwood, 93

Ruth M. Alwood, age 93, Three Rivers, formerly of Jones, passed away Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 at the Fairview Nursing Centre in Centreville. She was born in Cassopolis, MI on February 22, 1918,  a daughter of Frank and Cecil (Loveland) Sherry. On April 20, 1936 she married Harold “Bill” Alwood in Elkhart, IN. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1985. Ruth & Bill owned & operated Windy Hill Nursery in Jones for many years. She was a former member of the Three Rivers Eagles. Ruth loved animals, sewing, baking, and hunting.

Surviving Ruth are her daughter Susie (Rob) Engberts of Three Rivers, son Thomas Alwood of Las Vegas, NV, sister Lillian Dentler, granddaughter Heather (Aaron) Coyle-Ramsey, grandson Jacob Engberts, and great grandson Jackson Coyle, all of Three Rivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to a Reception of Remembrance at The Moose Lodge,110 Day Dr. Three Rivers, from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, December 16th. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment of ashes will take place at Poes Cemetery in Newberg Twp.
