Antoinette Ash, 103

Antoinette Ash, 103, of Three Rivers, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers. She was born in Three Rivers on Oct. 24, 1908 the daughter of the late Edgar James and Mary Alice (Speece) Ash. She was a graduate of Three Rivers High School and earned her Bachelors Degree from Albion College and her Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. Antoinette was a teacher at Dowagiac Schools for four years and Tekonsha Schools for 10 years before returning to Three Rivers where she was the music instructor for many years, retiring in 1968. She was also the choir director at the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Following her retirement, she wintered in Ellenton, Fla., moved to Traverse City in 1991, and had just returned to Three Rivers three months ago.

Antoinette is survived by a sister, Emily Hart-Killian of Traverse City; a nephew, Ted Hart of Racine, Wis.; grand-nephews, Robert Hart and Kevin Hart; grand-niece, Shannon Hart-Siu; and many cousins.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers and where funeral services will be held on 1 p.m. on Friday with Rev. Luther Ash officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. An online register is available at www.efhchapel.com.
