Edgar Allan Wolfe, age 75, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Wednesday morning January 4, 2012 at his home.
He was born July 19, 1936 in Columbia City, Indiana a son of the late F. Lowell and Lavanga (Weeks) Wolfe.
Ed returned to Sturgis in 2003 to care for his father. For over 38 years he lived in California and his early life was spent in the Columbia City, Indiana area. He attended Larwell High School and continued his education after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army at DeVry Technical College where he received his degree in Electronic Engineering.
Ed was an Electrical Engineer and had done sub contracting work for Rocket Dyne Industries. For a number of years he had owned and operated Aatrix Video Service Center in Los Angeles, California.
Ed was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1957 during the Korean War with the 101st Airborne Rangers, the Screaming Eagles earning the rank of Private First Class.
He was a member of The Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church in Howe, Indiana and a past member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past President and Secretary of the Los Angeles Chapter of the California State Electronic Association. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, and skydiving. He loved music especially playing the guitar and singing Elvis Presley songs. He last performed at the 2010 Michiana Idol contest.
He is survived by his loving companion, Margaret E. Corrall of California, four daughters, Tammy (Steve) Walker of Kentucky, Gina (Benjamin) Knecht of Columbia City, Indiana, Sherry Wolodkin of California and Kim Phae Wolfe of Oregon, one son, Jeff Allan (Kathy) Nicolet of Plymouth, Indiana, seven grandchildren, Andrew Walker, Austin Walker, Shannan Leininger, Sharm Knecht, Noah Wolodkin, Wesie Wolodkin and Krista Vaughn, five sisters, Linda (Dennis) Mieras of Burr Oak, Margaret (Michael) Fillmore of Coldwater, Laura (George) Jackson of Sturgis, Katha (Ryan) Taylor of Sturgis, Dora (David) Payton of Sturgis, two brothers, Darrell (Baohua Li) Wolfe of White Pigeon and Phillip (Phyllis) Wolfe of Sturgis and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Kenneth Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:45 P.M. Saturday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Edgar Allan Wolfe will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jean Ness of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church in Howe, Indiana will officiate. Committal services will take place at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. Full military honors will be conferred by The Fort Custer Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
