Harriet Hackenberg, 91

Harriet Hackenberg, age 91, of Marcellus, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Birch’s Adult Foster Care Home, in Leonidas, MI., prior to her family whom cared for her at home for several months. She was born on August 28, 1920 in Falmouth, MI. the daughter of Thomas and Tillie (Drenth) Workman.

Mrs. Hackenberg has been a lifelong resident of this area. For many years she drove school bus and later served on the Flowerfield School Board. She and her late husband Clayton Hackenberg also owned and worked their family farm. Harriet was a former member of the Lighthouse Community Church of Kalamazoo.

Mrs. Hackenberg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clayton; one son, Roger Hackenberg, and three brothers and three sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving family, daughter, Kathleen (Paul) Williams, of Three Rivers; two granddaughters, Peggy Motter, of Schoolcraft, and Pamela Schwartz, of Marcellus, MI.; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one sister, Lena Meersma, of Schoolcraft, MI.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Howell officiating.

Interment will be held in Flowerfield Cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the Three Rivers Health Hospice. Envelopes available at the Hohner Funeral Home.
