Hazel Joyce Martin, 78, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at the Heartland Health Care Center. Joyce was born on May 28, 1933 in Calhoun County, the daughter of Russell and Hazel (Peaslee) VanAlstine.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her son, Brian Jon Carpenter; one brother, Russell VanAlstine; two sisters, Iva Lee and Huldah “Peggy” Corkins.
Joyce leaves to cherish her loving memory two children, son, David A. Carpenter of Battle Creek and daughter, Julie (David) Chenoweth of Three Rivers; two grandchildren, Jonathan David Carpenter and Dawn Nicole Converse; great-grandchildren, Jonathan David Carpenter Jr., and Brian Robert Moore; step-great-grandchildren, Colton, Ashley, and Kynell, Madelyn and Jake; daughter-in-law, Diane (Greg) Garlets; step-grandson, Matthew (Lisa) Garlets; sister, Anita Shook.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services at noon on Monday, Jan. 30 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Chaplain Brian Lutz officiating.
Interment will be held in Moorepark Cemetery.
