Norm Hanshue, 95

Norman Hanshue, age 95, of Sturgis, was escorted to heaven by angels Monday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2012, at his home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Pierson, a son of the late Raymond and Edith (Ward) Hanshue.

Norm had resided in Sturgis since 1957, coming from Muskegon. On Aug. 29, 1939, he married Margie Baird in Grand Rapids. She preceded him to heaven Sept. 28, 2008.

Most of Norm’s working life was involved in the insurance and real estate profession. He had worked as an agent with Littman Insurance and Max Harker Real Estate, both in Sturgis.

He was an active member of Fish Lake Bible Church in Sturgis and enjoyed hunting, working in his garden and caring for his lawn. What he truly loved was fishing, especially at Big Fish Lake in Sturgis.

Norman is the father of four daughters, Patricia (Wayne) Rentfrow of White Pigeon, Sandee (Fred) McKenzie of Clearwater, Fla., Carleen (Dennis) Valerio of Spring Grove, Ill., and Kathleen (George) Pickens of Bristol, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Norman Hanshue will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 at Fish Lake Bible Church, 25108 Banker Street Road, Sturgis. The Rev. Tim Brondyke will officiate. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis.
