Old bones found in Union City

Police in Union City say human bones found under attic floorboards of a home may be more than 100 years old.  The bones were found January 12 along with an old corset at the home of Bryant and Teasha McIntosh in Union City.  Lt. Chris Mathis of the Union City Police Department says the find was made when the couple’s daughters were exploring the house, which was built in 1839. The bones were sent Wednesday to Michigan State University for examination.  Mathis said the house originally was owned by the family of John Zimmerman, a blacksmith, until 1930, and was part of the Underground Railroad, a network of people who helped and sheltered escaping slaves.  (AP)
