Roy Spore, 94

Vincent L. “Roy” Spore, 94, of Elkhart, Ind., formerly of White Pigeon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 25, 1917, in New York Mills, MN to Fred and Marie (Traver) Spore.

On Feb. 15, 1938, he married Louise D. (Mann) Spore in Elkhart. She preceded him in death May 28, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Spore of White Pigeon and Wayne (Carol) Spore of Elkhart; sister, Shirley Ermine of Long Beach, Miss.; two grandchildren, Chrystal (Greg) VanFossen of Guyana, South America and Travis Spore of Elkhart; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Serena VanFossen, both of Guyana, South America.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Picker and Vinie Bucher.

Roy served in the United States Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He, his wife and son Roger, were owners and operators of Spore Handicraft Supply Store in White Pigeon.

Cremation will take place at Altera Cremation Services and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Elkhart Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will follow in Mottville Township Cemetery, White Pigeon.

Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart, has been entrusted with his arrangements.
