A 19-year-old woman from Vicksburg was injured in a single-car accident Friday in Leonidas Township.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said Danielle Chambers was driving south on Fulton Road around 4:30 p.m. Friday when she lost control of her vehicle on a snow-covered road. Police said Chambers’ vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree just south of the Michigan Avenue intersection.
The vehicle caught fire but Chambers was able to escape. The incident prompted a response from the Leonidas Fire Department.
Police said Chambers refused treatment at the scene but sought treatment on her own.
Deputies ticketed Chambers for not wearing a seatbelt.
