WP Purchased 2 School Buses

Members of the White Pigeon Community Schools Board of Education agreed last week to purchase a pair of school buses.

The two vehicles will come with a total price tag of about $143,000 and will be added to the district’s 14-bus fleet in the fall.

After a motion to approve two new buses failed to garner a second, the board wound up approving the purchase of one new and one used bus. Board members opposed to the original motion said the district’s allocation for the two new vehicles was less than their $155,000 total cost.

The compromise of one new and one used was approved unanimously.

The lease of the used bus, a 2011 Thomas Built Bus of North Carolina, was up, allowing the district to purchase a like-new bus for a used-bus price, district officials said.
