Free Flu Vaccinations

Steve Todd, health officer for the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Health Agency, said Tuesday that a supply of free flu shots remains available at St. Joseph County’s Three Rivers-based site.

Todd told members of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners that the three-county agency received about 400 doses of flu vaccine. The supply it has on hand in Three Rivers remains available to people who schedule an appointment on a first-come, first-served basis.

Todd said despite the mild winter, the flu remains a serious threat and is especially susceptible to elderly and infants.

He noted that the average price for a flu shot is $25 to $30 at area pharmacies. Because the agency was given the vaccines free of charge, it is passing the shots on at the same rate.

The Three Rivers clinic may be reached at 269-273-2161.
