Peter Edward McDonough, age 62, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on January 30, 2012. He was born in Lockport, New York on March 11, 1949, the son of the late Lawrence and Nancy McDonough.
Mr. McDonough had been a long time resident of this area. He was formerly employed in sales for the Johnson Corp. before moving to Texas and working for Tusing and Associates. Upon moving back to Three Rivers he began Emerald Appraisal Group which he owned and operated for many years. Peter and his wife Cherie were members of St. Augustine Cathedral Parish, where Pete was involved with The Knights of Columbus.
Pete spent his lifetime devoted to his family. He spent time as a little league baseball coach, soccer coach, and a soccer referee. He was an avid golfer and a devoted grandfather in his later years.
Mr. McDonough was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert McDonough.
Pete leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cheryl “Cherie” (Shafer) McDonough, whom he married on August 8, 1970 in Three Rivers; two children, Peter McDonough, Jr., of Watertown, TN; and Allison (Aaron) Metz and their children, Zachary and Brady Metz, all of Fenton, MI; one brother, William (Donna) McDonough, of Highland, MI; two sisters, Mary Catherine (Mike) Kromrey, of Denver, CO, and Suzanne (Darrell Radson) McDonough, of Houghton, MI; sister-in-law, Kathy McDonough, of Three Rivers; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A memorial mass will take place 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at St. Augustine Cathedral; 542 W. Michigan Ave in Kalamazoo, MI 49007 with Monsignor Thomas Martin as celebrant. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul in Kalamazoo or the Animal Rescue Fund of St. Joseph County. Envelopes are available at the Hohner Funeral Home in care of Peter’s arrangements.
