Ralph Dean Hemenway, age 74, of Three Rivers, died Friday Feb. 3, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Three Rivers.
He was born Aug. 19, 1937 in Three Rivers, a son of Ralph H. and Mary I. (Weatherwax) Hemenway.
Ralph graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1956. He first married Donna Happel, and was later divorced. His second marriage was to Beverly (Winkleman) Doublestein in 1976. She died in 2007.
Ralph had worked at Denton Mills, Continental Can and Hydramatic before moving to southern California. There, he worked at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant near San Diego until his retirement and return to Three Rivers. Ralph was a big NASCAR fan, and was very fond of his dogs and cats.
Ralph is survived by a daughter, Sandra Hemenway of Three Rivers; adopted children Kenneth Hemenway of Mendon and Suzanne Battishill of St. Joseph; stepchildren Dianne (Harold) Zald of Texas and David (Sara) Crain of California; several grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Ann McPherson of Otsego and Suzanne Marie Hemenway of Three Rivers; two brothers, Jimmy Dale (Mabel) Hemenway of Centreville and Steven (Barbara) Hemenway of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; and two sons, Robert and Jeffrey Hemenway.
Cremation has been conducted. A graveside memorial service and interment will take place 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, with Pastor Terry Nelson of Centreville Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating.
