Robert Ray Schrader, age 51, a lifelong Sturgis resident, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born Dec. 16, 1960, in Sturgis, a son of Robert and Patricia (Jordan) Schrader.
In September 1980, he found his soulmate and life companion, Sherry Mullins.
Robert had been employed at the Sturgis Oasis Party Store, Western Auto and Walgreens, all in Sturgis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with automobiles, collecting die-cast cars, spending time with family and friends, and being helpful to his neighbors.
Surviving are one daughter, Crystal Schrader; life companion, Sherry Mullins; sister, Tina (James) Long; brother, Carl Schrader; parents, Robert and Patricia Schrader; nieces, Kaylyn Schrader, Sierria Bauman, and Cassandra Hendricks; and nephew, Caleb Hendricks, all of Sturgis; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son, Angel Schrader in 1987 and his grandparents.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Following visitation, the family would encourage family and friends to join them at Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W., 264 W. Fawn River Road, Sturgis, for a meal and continued fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to the Hackman Family Funeral Home – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
