Ruth Gibson, 76

Ruth Samantha Gibson, age 76, of Pearland, Texas, and formerly of LaGrange, Ind., passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 6, 2012, at Windsong Village in Pearland. 

She was born Aug. 13, 1935, in LaGrange, a daughter of the late John and Nola (Perry) Lovelace. 

For the past 3½ years she resided in Pearland, moving there to be closer to her daughter. Before moving to Texas, she had lived most of her life in the Elkhart and Goshen, Ind., area.

Ruth was always a hard worker. She had been employed as a waitress and worked in the dry cleaning and laundry industry. She also was a homemaker and loving mother. 

Ruth enjoyed traveling and music, especially listening to country music and she loved getting into her car and taking drives. 

She is survived by two daughters, Berry Lynn (Terry) Carner of Georgetown, Ky., and Kathie (Johnny) Johnson of Pearland; two sons, Alan (Cindy) Hahn of Norwalk, Ohio, and Larry Hale of Middlebury, Ind.; six grandchildren, Rachel, Billy, Ty, Collin, Samara and Clarissa; great grandchildren; a sister, Callie Hills of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Carrie Sybesma and Betty Perry; and five brothers, Roy, Dick, Thomas, John and Robert Lovelace. 

The family will receive friends from noon-12:45 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. 

Funeral services celebrating the life of Ruth Gibson will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Bean of the Sturgis Wesleyan Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange.
