Thomas Allen Persons, age 46, of 24 N. Oller Ave., Waynesboro, and formerly of Indiana, was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, Feb. 23, 2012, in Fredericksburg, Va.
Born June 10, 1965 in Sturgis, Mich., he was the son of the late Maurice “Jake” and Darlene (nee Crain) Persons.
He was a 1983 graduate of Colon High School, Colon, Mich. He attended Glen Oaks Community College and received a certificate in agricultural engineering from Michigan State University in 1986.
On Dec. 15, 1990, in Scott, Ind., he married his loving wife Julie Gadson.
He had been employed as a truck driver for over 28 years since he was 18 years old. He currently was employed as a transportation specialist for Alliance Healthcare Services since 2003.
He was a member of the Lima United Methodist Church, Howe, Ind., and attended the Wayne Heights Brethren Church, Waynesboro.
He was raised by the late Dave and Ruby Lederman since he was a young child.
In addition to his loving wife, Thomas is survived by a daughter Melodie Persons and a son Brock Persons of Waynesboro; three brothers Mike Persons of Mendon, Mich., Bob Lederman and Bill Lederman and his wife Janell both of Sturgis, Mich.; three sisters Sally Sharp and her husband Andy of Colon, Mich., Betty Andersohn and her husband Emmerson of Sturgis, Mich., Miriam Vincent and her husband Wayne of Three Rivers, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his birth parents and adopted parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lederman.
A celebration memorial service of Thomas life will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Wayne Heights Brethren Church, 120 Strickler Avenue, Waynesboro, Pa. Rev. Harold Walton officiating. Interment will be private.
