Village Inn Wins Best Chili Event

A first-time participant in the annual Constantine Chili Throwdown took top honors during the third annual event Saturday.

The Village Inn, which opened for business in July, was the top vote-getter from nearly 50 voters who weighed in on choosing the event’s best chili.

For $5 per person, the public was invited to sample each of four chili offerings and cast a vote for the best. Other contenders were Piper’s Grinders Galore, 2010 winner Town Fryer and reigning champion Rachel’s.

Village Inn for the next year will retain the rights to a traveling trophy, presented annually to the event’s winner.

The cook-off was sponsored by the Constantine Brainstormers, a civic-minded group that promotes monthly events in downtown Constantine.
