Sunday’s wine and cheese event at White Pigeon Township Library was declared a success by its organizers.
A capacity crowd of 40 people attended the event, which was the first of its kind at the library. Library director Perri Saunders said the wine-and-cheese tasting was an opportunity to introduce people to the library and bring together like-minded people.
Burr Oak-area resident Bill Pattee, whose credentials make him a wine expert, served as the house official on the six different Spanish-imported wines offered Sunday.
Saunders said considering the success of Sunday’s program, another wine and cheese event will likely take place in about six months. Saunders said she would like to see Pattee center the next event on Michigan-made wines.
Wines, cheeses and crackers offered during the free-to-the-public event were purchased from Central Meat Market in Sturgis.
