Breaking into Elementary School

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a breaking and entering at 7 a.m. Friday last week at Marcellus Elementary School.

It was discovered that the school, an outside greenhouse and the concession stand had been vandalized and items taken, including electronics and a small amount of money.

Marcellus School officials stated that repairs from the vandalism could cost as much as $20,000.

After nearly two weeks of investigation by sheriff’s detectives and school officials, three suspects were identified.

Detectives, who recovered some of the missing property from these suspects, are seeking charges against two 16-year-old juveniles and one adult.

The adult’s age and address will be released upon his arrest and arraignment.
