George Allen Williams, 68, of Three Rivers, went to be with his heavenly father, Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at his home.
George was born Dec. 23, 1943 in Vermont, a son to the late Harold and Laura (Dane) Williams.
He graduated from Lyndon Institute, Lyndon Center, Vt. in 1961 and joined the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1968.
He married Hazel Simpkins in 1969; she preceded him in death as did their daughter Marcy Lyn (Boodt). On Dec. 23, 1977 he married Sandy J. Sanford, gaining two sons (Steve and Dave) whom he adopted.
George was employed at Continental Can and General Motors and retired from American Axle of Three Rivers in 2005.
Surviving are his loving wife, Sandy Williams of Three Rivers; sons, Steve (Becky) Williams and Dave Williams all of Three Rivers; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Annie (Merrill) Meyette; a sister-in-law, Marian Dane of Vermont.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a daughter, a grandson and a niece.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 3 at 11 a.m. with funeral services at noon at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon with Pastor Trent Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Matteson Township Cemetery in Branch County. If desired, memorials may be made in memory of George to Hospice of Three Rivers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
