John M. Abel, age 60, of Three Rivers, died suddenly of natural causes at his home on Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was born in Three Rivers on February 3, 1952 the son of Harold C. and Leita I. (Decker) Abel, Sr., and was a life-long resident of Three Rivers. John was a graduate of Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1970, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member and Past President of the Three Rivers Eagles. He was the lead vocalist and played guitar for the Brews Brothers Band known for the Brews Cruise Fourth of July Party at Fisher Lake. He worked as a Security Officer for Advanced Security.
John was married to Bonnie D.M. Earl on February 11, 1978 in Three Rivers. She survives along with his daughter, Amanda L. (Joseph) Kindig of White Pigeon; two sons, John H. (Jennifer) Abel and Christopher B. (Andrea) Abel all of Three Rivers; and by twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Abel, Jr.; and a sister, Beverly E. Reed.
Cremation has been conducted. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 21, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Neumayer of Trinity Missionary Church of Constantine officiating. A private interment of ashes will take place later. Memorial donations may be directed to the family and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
