Jose Guadalupe Solis, age 85, of Three Rivers, went peacefully to his Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at his home.
He was born June 20, 1926, in Edinburg, Texas, a son of Mr. Santos and Paula (Ramirez) Solis.
Mr. Solis had been a resident of Three Rivers since 1980. He was employed for more than 30 years at Fred Nagel & Sons Gladiola Farms. Jose truly loved spending time with his family and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Paula Soto; and three brothers, Santos Solis, Antonio Solis, and Lalo Soliz.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Herlinda (Arce) Solis of Three Rivers, whom he married Nov. 18, 1950; four children, Gloria Parshall, of East Jordan, Jose Guadalupe “Joe” Solis Jr. of Sturgis, Norma Townsend of Three Rivers and Oscar Solis of Kalamazoo; grandchildren Tina Brennan of East Jordan, Lori Parshall of East Jordan, Amy Zawacki, of La Porte, Ind., Jessica Solis of Bronson, Erin Solis of Constantine, Zachary Solis of Sturgis and Tyler Townsend of Three Rivers; great-grandchildren Tommy and Nicholas Brennan, Skylar Barnett, Morgan Solis, Payton Bissinger, and Addison Rinehart; a sister, Adela Solis of Edinburg, Texas; and two brothers, Cipriano Soliz of Tulia, Texas, and Margarito Solis of Edinburg; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Solis officiating.
Memorials may be donated to the St. Joseph County United Way or the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
