Joyce Hitchcock-Hackenberg-Thompson, 63

Joyce Hitchcock-Hackenberg-Thompson, 63, of Three Rivers, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Rose Arbor Hospice Facility, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 2, 1948 in Paw Paw, the daughter of Raleigh “Hambone” and Imogene (Salyer) Hitchcock.

Joyce has been a long time resident of Three Rivers. She was a member of Three Rivers High School class of 1966. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier. Prior to that Joyce was employed at Swiss Valley, Glenwood, Frankie’s and Kulesia’s restaurants.

Joyce was a member of the Three Rivers B.P.O.E. #1248 and the Eagles #2303. She was loved by every dog she ever met. If you needed anyone to tell you the truth she was your go-to person regardless if you liked the answer or not.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Kenneth “Bruce” Hitchcock and Jerry Hitchcock.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Joyce Marie Hackenberg, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Janice Chiddister; two best friends, Janice Broker and Ricki Sullivan, who made the last five years bearable and are true sisters; half-sisters, Denise (David) Miller, Doris, Lillian and Kelly Hitchcock; half-brother, Mike Hitchcock; one niece, Yvonne (Thompson) King; nephews, Kenneth “Tiger” Hitchcock, Jeffrey and Timothy Miller, and Casey, Cody and Kyle Miller; great-nephew, Jackson Hitchcock and great-niece, Hannah Orzol; special friend, Brandy Hackenberg.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Kyle Foster officiating.
