Opal Mae Hambright, age 82, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Saturday morning March 17, 2012 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born October 1, 1929 in Campton, Kentucky a daughter of Ed and Dovie (Prophit) Carroll.
Mrs. Hambright resided in the Sturgis area since 1953. On July 12, 1956 she married Leo Joseph Hambright in Sturgis.
From 1953–1964 she was employed by the Transogram Company in Sturgis and she was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Hambright was a member of the Christian Fellowship Center in Sturgis and she enjoyed sewing, crafts and baking, especially cakes.
She is survived by one daughter, Desiree Mieras of Sturgis, four sons, Phillip (Danielle) Hambright of Centreville, Robert (Jane) Hambright of Hart, Randy (Kim) Hambright of Sturgis and Keith (Kellie) Hambright of Sturgis, two step-daughters, Evelyn (Joe) Shutte of Oklahoma and Delores (Lyle) Kline of Colon, one step-son, Leo C. Hambright of Sturgis, 35 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one expected great grandchild, several step great grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Krueger of Holland and Ruby Miller of Winchester, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Roger and Charles Hambright, two grandchildren, Brittany Hambright and Ryan Mieras, six brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Opal M. Hambright will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
