Tina Brady, 86

Tina H. Brady, 86, was born March 9, 1925 in Hannrade, Netherlands, to Pieter and Josephine Heckmanns. The seventh of eight children, she died of Alzheimer’s disease March 2, 2012.

On Aug. 17, 1945, she married Master Sgt. Claud L. Brady, becoming one of the many World War II Brides. He preceded her in death in January 1998, along with her son, Eugene, in December 1995.

Tina is survived by her daughters, Anneliese (Ted) Foti of Georgia and Claudia Brady of Granger; and granddaughters, Tonya (Chris) Heckman, Karen (Richard) Ricks, and Cathy (Milan) Radovich.

Although she was trained as a nurse in the Netherlands, she was unable to transfer her training to the United States. Tina worked in retail sales in Lansing and Sturgis, retiring from Harding’s Market as the non-food buyer. One of her proudest moments was becoming at U.S. citizen in 1955.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Ind. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her honor, to the Memorial Health Foundation for the Children’s Hospital, 615 N. Michigan, South Bend, IN 46601, or to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617.
