William Donald (W.D.) Reynolds, age 72, of Burr Oak, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2012, at Sturgis Hospital, with his son, sisters, stepdaughter, grandson and friends by his side.
He was born Nov. 3, 1939, in Hillsdale, a son of the late Robert Leon and Danelda (Wilmer) Reynolds.
W.D. resided in Sturgis since 1982, coming from Hillsdale County. He was a graduate of Reading High School with the class of 1959.
In 1995, he married Joan Ash. They enjoyed many years on their farm and building a house on the hill before her passing Nov. 29, 2006.
W.D. was founder of A-1 Water Conditioning in Sturgis.
W.D. loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed fishing, the Detroit Lions, NASCAR races and, most of all, his John Deere tractors and Gator. He always made time to stop in to his office as he called it (Chicago Road Café) to catch up with his buddies.
He leaves behind a son, Jeff (Karmon) Reynolds of Sturgis; two stepsons, Scott (Michele) Carr of Sturgis and Todd Carr of Waterford; a stepdaughter, Jodi (Carr) DeJarnatt of Bronson; three sisters, Bobbi (Chuck) Michael of Chandler, Ind., Jackie (Tom) Ely of Arcadia, Fla., and Jeri Meadowcroft of Waynesville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Allen Alex and Jessi Reynolds, Amanda (Benson) Meek, Michael Carr, Drew Kasey, Stephanie DeJarnatt, Hunter Jourdan, Samantha, Nickolas and Dallas Carr; four stepgrandchildren, Mikayla and Garrett Buglione and Josh and Samantha Wilder; a great-granddaughter, Taeler DeJarnatt; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Verna and Susan Coblentz.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis for a time of remembering the life of William W.D. Reynolds.
A private graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at a later date at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
