The city of Sturgis has announced its first of three brush pickups is set to begin today.
As they have in the past, city workers will start collections at the north end of town and work their way south.
During brush collection, no grass clippings, roots, thorn-bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps, or construction materials will be picked up. Limbs, branches or brush material must be four inches in diameter or smaller and eight feet in length or shorter.
A limit of one truck load of material per parcel will be collected.
The city commission recently approved a change to the collection dates, which will now occur during the first week of April, May and October. Brush is also picked up throughout the spring and summer as needed following substantial storm events.
