Dick Carper, 76

Dickey A. Carper, 76, of Osceola, Ind., passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at his residence with his family at his bedside.

Dick was born on May 8, 1935 in Constantine to the late Payson and Bessie (Bowman) Carper.

Dick married the former Mary Mix on April 19, 1965 in Olympia, Wash. Dick and Mary just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary last Thursday.

Dick is survived by his wife Mary and their 10 children, Pamela Lomax, Rick “Jake” (Suzy) Wilcox, Debra Ives, Diane (Eric) Little, Karen “Jody” Mauceri, David (Anita) Carper, Doreen A. (Nick) Sensat, Dianna (Thomas) Mauceri, Scott A. (Cyndi) Carper and Andrew Dale (Melissa) Carper. Dick was a grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Dick is also survived by five siblings, George “Arch” Carper, Mildred “Chuck” Wallace, Carol Jean (Bob) Bell, Samuel “Sam” (Joanna) Carper and Phyllis (Delton) Bell. Dick is preceded in death by four sisters, Juanita “Skeet” Broge, Janet Mercer, Marjorie Carper and Audrey Whistler.

Dick retired as a Police Officer from the Constantine Police Department after several years of service. Dick then pursued his career as a Master Electrician and was well known as an Electrical Contractor throughout the Michiana area. Dick and Mary attended St. Peter Lutheran Church, where Dick was recently baptized.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 23, 4-7 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 437 Dragoon Trail East, Mishawaka, Ind. The funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bryan Borger officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Ind.

The family requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lakes Pkwy Ste 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545-1440. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
