Marlene Mullins, 75

Marlene K. Mullins, age 75, of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2012, at the Sturgis Hospital emergency room.

She was born May 13, 1936, in LaGrange, Ind., a daughter of the late Alvin and Mary Lumm.

Marlene resided in Sturgis since 1986 coming from Muskegon. She had been employed by the Sturgis Journal and she was a homemaker.

Marlene was a dedicated member of Christian Fellowship Center in Sturgis and was involved in the Foster Grandparents Program. She enjoyed watching the Cooking Channel, puzzles, playing cards and truly loved baking cinnamon rolls with her grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by four daughters, Deborah (Mark) Sullivan of Kalamazoo, Penny Hines of Edmonton, Ky., Stacy Becker of Muskegon and Jennifer (Terry) Rawson of Sturgis; a son, Jeffery (Nicole) Mullins of Sturgis; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan (Stanley) Hartzler of Missouri, Sarah Cox of Muskegon and Barbara (Eugene) Pelfrey of LaGrange, Ind.; a brother, Clarence (Karen) Lumm of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Judy Lumm of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Marlene K. Mullins will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Fellowship Center in Sturgis. The Rev. Glenn Middleton and The Rev. Stephen Middleton will officiate. In accordance with Marlene’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to the Christian Fellowship Center Mission, 201 North St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
