Richard Lakey, 85

Richard L. Lakey, 85, died Thursday, April 20, 2012 after an extended illness. He was a resident of LifeCare Center of LaGrange, Ind.

He was born in Three Rivers on Jan. 28, 1927 to Alva and Aletha Lakey.

He served in the United States Navy. He was a Three Rivers city commissioner from 1997-2001, was part owner of Three Rivers Machine, and traveled extensively in his life.

He is survived by three children, Dave L. Lakey of Avondale, Ariz., Patricia A. Lakey of Three Rivers and Barbara S. Castner of Angola, Ind.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Wagner of Three Rivers, and Sister Mary Kevin of Erie, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

There will be a memorial on May 12 from 1-4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Three Rivers where he was a past Exalted Ruler.

Memorials can be made to the Elks National Foundation.
