Alice Suzette “Suzy” Warner, age 85, of Three Rivers, went peacefully to her Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2012, the day of her birth. She was born in Three Rivers, the daughter of Merrill and Florence (Ellet) Warner.
Suzy was a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. The tapestry of her life vividly illustrates the unselfish service Suzy devoted to her community. Suzy graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1945. She graced the school system with over 36 years of service as financial secretary.
Suzy was always active, loving and giving to her community throughout her 85 years; American Legion Hice-Shutes Auxiliary #170, life member, treasurer, president, and chairperson of the Scholarship Committee; St. Joseph County Retired School Personnel Committee; and First Presbyterian Church since 1944, where she served on the Board of Trustees, secretary, treasurer, foundation chairperson and gatekeeper to special funds. Suzy’s other involvements included the Carnegie Center for the Arts in Three Rivers and the Delta Kappa Gamma educational sorority.
Suzy served on the Three Rivers Planning Board, Park Board, City Police Ad-Hoc Committee, Three Rivers Sesquicentennial Committee and the 125th Celebration Committee of Three Rivers. In 1972, Suzy was named as one of the “Top Ten Educational Office Persons” in the state.
She was preceded by her parents and two brothers, Paul E. and H. Don Warner.
Her loving memory is cherished by the sister and brother of her heart, her cousins Alice Jeffers of Three Rivers and Bill (Marilyn) Abshire (and children) of Saranac, MI; one very special sister-in-law, Edith M. Warner, of Ann Arbor, MI; ten nieces and nephews, Ginger (Douglas) Rauser, of Ann Arbor, MI, Don (Bonnie) Warner, of Lexington, SC, Tom (Anne) Warner, of Ann Arbor, MI, Elizabeth (Bill) Sturgis, of Ann Arbor, MI, Don Warner, of Richmond, VA, Susan DiDonato, of Ann Arbor, MI, Arthur “Jeff” (Janis) Jeffers, of Falls Church, VA, Jim (Sally) Jeffers, of Vancouver, WA, Jeanine (Ron) Woolf, of Fairbanks, AK, and Jodie Jeffers, of Keizer, OR; many beloved grand and great grand nieces and nephews; and many, many wonderful friends whom Suzy cherished; as well as her adored companion “Rusty” the cat.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Brenda Deily officiating.
Internment will be held in Riverside Cemetery.
