Bedell acting manager

Constantine police chief Jim Bedell has been appointed acting village manager while full-time village manager Mark Honeysett recovers from a heart attack.

Members of the village council last week agreed to the temporary measure, which means Bedell will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the village, as well as the law-enforcement side of the community.

It was suggested a three-person committee fill Honeysett’s post during the interim, but after further discussion, the council agreed the task should be overseen by one person instead.

Bedell’s appointment was suggested by Honeysett, a recommendation that proved to be enough for the council to put the job into Bedell’s hands.

Prior to Bedell’s arrival, Honeysett served the dual role of police chief and village manager for about three years.
